I am watching the FBI Director Comey's testimony now and it appears that he is walking the fine line between his role as an investigator and lawyer. I have tried to give him the benefit of doubt as I think he is a principled man with perhaps a bit too much Eagle Scout influnce.
My layman's interpretation of his testimony and his July press conference is that he is walking the narrow road of what the facts are and what he can prove. That may help me resolve the "Reasonable Prosecutor" comment. No prosecutor should bring a case he does not think he can prove in a court of law. I believe he is a principled bureaucrat (in the non-pejorative sense) trying to avoid the partisan ditch on both sides of the road. I am not a naive man but I do consider myself somewhat of a fair judge of character. I know a retired FBI agent who is a very right leaning citizen now, but he has told me that one of the major tenants of the FBI code is still to follow the facts. Perhaps I am just looking for something in our government and leaders to believe in again. It is an exercise in hide and seek I never thought I would see. |
That reminds me of the story of the two golfers after playing a game. They strip to go to the shower and one guy is wearing pantyhose. The other ask "Why in the heck are you wearing pantyhose?" The reply, "Ever since my wife found them in the glove compartment."
I don't think that was JEH' s problem though, as a confurmed bachelo . |
You're right B.T.; J. Edgar kept it non-partisan by never surrendering control to politicians.
No one held control over the FBI, unless it was Mr. Hoover, even if he might have been alternatively dressed on occasion. |
The FBI was probably always corrupt but J. Edgar kept it non- partisan. All presidents have shown a tendency to abuse the system from Nixon to Obama.
I suspect there is a book in the future for Mr. Comey. By all reports prior to his news conference on Hillary's emails, he was regarded by both sides as a straight shooter. I still wonder about his motivations on laying out the evidence and then taking the fall for what he may have known would never be a successful prosecution. He may have realized that the fix was in or he may have been part of it, but it will eventually be analyzed perhaps he can redeem what seems like a tarnished reputation. The FBI always protects the FBI and this time it appears to be part of the cover-up but I will await the final act before the curtain falls to decide. |
With this second document dump on Friday, September 23, 2016, it well certain at this point. So sad. Director Comey was fairly well respected.
He has sacrificed his legacy for that of tow of the greatest liars who have ever served in federal government - Lying Barry and Lying Hillary. |
Lying Hillary, at the Commander-in-Chief Public Forum on 090716, is still lying about the emails with every word she utters.
Every Democrat, every RINO who defends these ongoing deceits, this abhorrent, unpatriotic behavior is an unmitigated Dumbass with no core principles. Oh, am I being a bully right now, or am I a misogynist? |

If this case, which the FBI was charged to recommend for whatever indictment, hinged on intent for Director Comey, the FBI should have not looked away from all the obvious intent at every available opportunity.
This misscarrage of justice will be examined for long into the future by patriots who believe in equal protection under the law.
