What is the problem, if any?

Last night's news said the Commissioners resolved the Board. I fail to see the wisdom when there are major problems for healthcare in Belhaven and Hyde County to be resolved by smart people who know medicaid rules and regs.

I would say we have turned a limping race horse over to the glue factory for care!

We could be on 60 Minutes soon over stupid neglect by our State and County over public healthcare. The biggest example will be neglect of sick citizens while spending money to jail them better - - - We are INTERESTING, to say the least.

Stan--- now will you categorize me as "far left extreme?????"

I keep telling you I am common sense MODERATE, my brother. I don't like pretense / wast of money / bull shit being sold as chocolate --- which seems to be the mode of the day in politics from both EXTREMES . . .

The news reports on tonight's meeting will be more than interesting, good buddy.

In sum we have a disclosure of BIG MONEY involved in Healthcare and vanity of those who make great sums in Executive positions. It is a consistent story with Corporate America at every level~~~the rich get richer / the actual workers get no raises and more duties / the patients think "because it looks big and pretty it certainly can't have hidden microbes that can kill you with infections that won't go away."

I have done an intense amount of research on Vidant Corporation which is capitalizing on "Tax exempt / nonProfit" status to acrue massive amounts of money without a single tax payment.

All this boils down to a simple LIE to the public paying our taxes without complaint. Our Property Tax, for one, is 30% above actual sales values!!!!

**Just how long will we put up with the deceptions???
**How long will we complain about high taxes and still pay them---unlike the Boston Tea Party folks when England was doing the same to America?
**IS HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF AND THE ROBBERS ARE ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS AND POLITICIANS???

Had McCrory and others listened to Attorney General Roy Cooper about the possible unconstitutional nature of the Marriage Amendment ~~~ this whole rush to STUPID could have been avoided. Frankly, I am becoming embarrassed that a noted Progressive SOUTHERN state is getting so REGRESSIVE. . .

Be careful over the Hospital money --- there are statutes and regulations over Foundation funds being done with as you please . . .

A Trust Fund should be formed with some formal statement to the NC Secretary of State which monitors all 501(c)3 entities. In the case of a church in the same category, law is clear that any assets can ONLY be given to a similar entity.

Why not help the folks at Belhaven resolve their health care issues since they are such an entity? Last time I traveled there, it was still a part of Beaufort County!

I am confident the County Attorney is well-aware of the legalities of all this.

Gentlemen---this reminds me of a Clarkston High School run for class office as Sophomores. The best sign ever was: "SEX--now that I have your attention vote for me."

If you both have the guts to address my real issue---here it is in simple terms:

(1) That Declaration had no political party attached nor liberal/conservative.
(2) It was based on Renaissance thought = propose a thesis / come back with an anthesis / work to a synthesis / continue the cycle of good debate and thought.
(3) Today the "politics by commercial" is about as dumb as it gets.
(4) The puppets of DC and Raleigh (Atlanta) run amuck doing the bidding of the rich who fund them.
(5) Now read the document and see if there is any reference to party / personal position / anything other than "all men created equal . . ."

Don't show us "Clarkston stupid" since we have all had 69-70 years of life in America, some spent in Vietnam risking life, mine risked in Baptist Churches actually preaching and living the Bible and Christ as well as getting fired for telling the truth.

We were reared in a unique time in America / we were taught well by people who had been in WWII / we were forbidden to foment the discord of prejudice. We are uniquely gifted and prepared to share some sense with those raised in a wacky world of the 70's and drug use, gentlemen. Our worst vice was cigs and beer (along with a good Playboy centerfold).

This subject I started is somewhat deep and requires thought. Many people read articles and are afraid to enter the fray. I welcome any comments and enjoy the fray---as long as mutual respect is involved and good points are made.

I am somewhat tired of the constant "far left" position trying to be given to me, but that holds no water and readers can judge for themselves . . .

I find these comments thus far to be distractions from the truth I see over the Declaration of Independence:

(1) Nobody had a crystal ball to show them the ultimate result of their dream.
(2) The document was devoid of political position such as conservative-liberal.
(3) They WERE using the new outlook of their day as to how mankind becomes free.
(4) The democratic ideal was that wisdom comes from opposites debated and then there is some synthesis / followed by more thesis then synthesis / into the future.
(5) The politics I see displayed in this e-magazine is mostly ultra-conservative.
(6) I would like to think the growing readership has to do with some opposite and critical views about 3 of us post in our articles.

Now would you care to engage over the real nature of the Declaration of Independence and our resulting ways of 2015 . . .

I guess most readers are getting beer chilled and dogs cooked to the exclusion of considering the real and basic issues of the first July 4. No problem---tomorrow is another day and sobriety usually comes by noon on Sunday . . .

A most thorough listing of grave events. I have visited both England and the European nations to see their beauty. Compare that staid and controlled area to the wilderness of America and you know the real reason our ancestors left to hack out a new place in a wilderness~~~FREEDOM from oppression by the rich and titled of the Old World.

Now compare this to 2015 American and the renewed attempt to subject the masses of working people here to rich favoritism of Trickle Down Economics and Corporate favoritism.

Are we going to take it or will we show them we have had enough, come 2016???

Don't forget that NC (First in Freedom) adopted the Halifax Resolves prior to the Constitution. Many of its articles formed a basis of the nation's document:

I have been more than tired / more than resting and not making comments today. I end my day with this catch up on important posts.

I view the proof that the Bible is accurate because it is the only book which tells its story showing BOTH the good and bad in it's characters of the Old Testament. People can change history to fit their outlook and the winners always write the history---true or not.

The beauty of America is that it is a "work in progress." We have ideals which we have done better --- and sometimes not so good. The time of slavery was bad in some ways and not so bad in others. I share a quick story of NYC and the Staton Island Ferry parking lot.

We camped there overnight under a light. The next morning I took the do out and met a man awaking from his sleep on the bench. He was black and asked me where we were from. I answered, "Loris, SC." He startled me with his recognition and the fact he was from Mullins, just up the road.

His summation was, "I ain't gonna crop no mo 'bacco." My thought was, "Your cousins may live in a shack back in the South, but they, at least, have a roof over their heads and food to eat!" Once freed, the slaves were not even welcome to follow Yankee soldiers and share any food from them.

It is bad to get freedom, but no respect. I call it "pseudo-freedom."

We seem to go in cycles of history. I have lived in NC / SC / GA all my life and consider myself a "citizen of the Southeast." In churches of county seat towns I found a natural class at funerals and weddings. Southerners just "know how to do it right and proper." We will talk behind your back rather than have big public confrontations.

I still get goosebumps when Dixie is played. Next comes the Georgia Tech Ramblin' Wreck song. When the President began to sing "Amazing Grace" yesterday it was both tears and faith which came to my mind.

I have no childhood memories of Liberty, SC, where I was born in the upstate foothills. My first memories are from Tryon, NC, where my father pastored their First Baptist Church. It is noted for grapes and wine!

We are Southern Brothers, Stan, so we know how to even agree to disagree and still honor our heritage. Perhaps that is our greatest kinship, my brother . . .

Too often we make legislative activity with "knee jerk" thought---meaning "no thought." For the moment we need to consider the real issue of citizen representation, in my view. The recent studies indicating a rift between representatives and common taxpayers shows clearly too much bowing to money interests over helping use taxes to better our state.

I have just witnessed the eulogy OUR President gave for Reverend Pinkney. He ended by singing "Amazing Grace" as the people joined in. God bless him!

Most church members think the sermon is the only thing a pastor does because they all are there. The ministry during the week gives a good Pastor his material.

One of the greatest was Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick during WWII days. He viewed the sermon as Group Counseling . . .

Senator Tillis, as usual deals with the surface with no real understanding. The next logical step to Public Healthcare is to reduce the excess costs growing at 3-5 time inflation from Doctors, hospitals, big pharma, suing lawyers, insurance company profits out the wazoo.

This thing he derisively calls "Obamacare" is but a first step for our industrialized nation to join the others who did it years ago to help their people enjoy a life we pretend to enjoy!

As I read this analysis, it deals more with our historic black schools than any others. Is there racism here or is it just obsession with greed and money?

"$73 million in tax relief next year" --- who are Republicans kidding???

All the people I talk with say their last 2 years of NC tax is HIGHER rather than lower. The sly conniving con artists of Raleigh are cutting deductions and hitting my small business especially hard.

The rich still get their corporate jet deduction in the millions while my $50K deduction for new equipment is GONE!!!!

Quit the BS and start being real Legislators. You don't really care about the working in NC and you certainly do not care about Rural Healthcare because you still reject Medicaid sitting in DC that we paid with our Federal Taxes . . .
