Vidant Health is scheduled to appear before the Town of Belhaven Board of Adjustment on October 22 at 7 pm to request a Special Use Permit to allow construction and operations of their planned health care facility.

Yesterday was a big day for the people of Belhaven trying to save their hospital and medical care. Vidant is the Corporate Giant headquartered in Greenville, NC.

The Pastor spoke and the crowd, already most respectful, hushed. He began a lovely old spiritual and you could tell people were serious, but not angry. His prayer was for God's help in their Hospital plight.

The Belhaven Hospital is closed, locked and being stripped of everything anyone may use to operate a hospital. Vidant the owner of the hospital business, also known as University Health Systems, presented the public with a reason.

Working together with elected officials and leaders from Hyde County, the Vidant Health Foundation today announced it will augment EMS services in the county by providing a $250,000 grant-in-aid to upgrade two medical emergency transport vehicles.
