The NC General Assembly was shut down for about two weeks due to snow and other bad weather. The Bill submission deadline was not extended due to the weather, so we are jumping through hoops now to get our Bills into Bill Drafting before the submission deadline on March 18th.

Senator Bill Cook filed Senate Bill 792 to stop ferry tolling. Senator Norman Sanderson joined with Sen. Cook to find other monies to permanently replace receipts that would have been generated by ferry tolling.

No ferry tolls will be imposed on the Aurora/Bayview ferry. No new tolls will be imposed on any ferries for the fiscal year 2013-2014.

In the coastal counties, many of whom are Tier I and II counties, the ferry riders are mostly folks going to work. The river ferries are virtually all commuter traffic, including school buses going to and from school, and folks going to the Doctor’s Office or doing every-day shopping.
