    Pattie Wiggins Harper "Patsy" Mallison, 91, died peacefully Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in Ridgewood Manor, Washington.

    A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14 in Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, Washington. The Rev. Kevin Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Keith Alligood, Gregory V. Arnold, Alan Dixon, Walter A. Manning III, William McCoy Woolard III, all of Washington, and Phillip Kyle Stalls of Greensboro.

    Mrs. Mallison was born November 11, 1922 in Pinetops, N.C., the daughter of the late Joseph Kendred Harper and Susie Barnes Harper. She was a 1943 graduate of Flora MacDonald College, now St. Andrews University, in Laurinburg, N.C. and worked as director of public school music in Washington. She wed Frederick McIlhenny Mallison on July 15, 1949 in Pinetops Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Mallison served as a Girl Scout troop leader for many years, including as a delegate to the 1970 Atlanta conference which completed desegregation of the Girl Scouts in the South.

    Mrs. Mallison was also a long-time member of the Stratford Book Club and St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

    Surviving are her son, Frederick McIlhenny Mallison, Jr., and her grandson William Frederick McIlhenny Mallison. Preceding her in death were her husband, her daughter, Martha Elisabeth Mallison Moore, and her son, John Joseph Harper Mallison.

    The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Ridgewood Manor for their compassionate care.

    The family will receive friends at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, Friday, December 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
