Beaufort County Government's General Meeting Agenda: Monday, December 2, 2013 | Eastern North Carolina Now

The Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners Will Meet to Discuss the County's Business

The Government of Beaufort County meets every month for at least one general meeting to discuss and act on the county's business. Beaufort County employs the county manager form of government which stipulates that the board of county commissioners allow the county manager to set the agenda, and bring issues before them.

The Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners will meet to discuss a variety of issues in their general meeting on Monday, December 2, 2013. This is the sixth general meeting post-budget, when the Beaufort County Commissioners, by a vote of 4 to 3 elected to enact no meaningful cuts to the budget and shall, in time, borrow even deeper from the county's fund balance.

This general meeting will have a number of noteworthy issues, but none as important as who the 'Gang of Four' (Democrats: Jerry Langley, Al Klemm, Ed Booth and Robert Belcher) will pick as chairman of the county commission. The choice of chairman is not deduced in a haphazard manner by the majority, but with a purposeful direction, so as to make the trade-offs for these votes for that chair to be measured for a future need for all those involved. Why does one reckon the 'Gang of Four' votes as they do all throughout the year.
