Vidant Beaufort Hospital announces recipients of Community Benefit grants | Eastern North Carolina Now

For Immediate Release:

    Washington, NC     Vidant Beaufort Hospital recently awarded its annual community benefit grants totaling $133,531 to six local community organizations. These funds are made available from the Vidant Health Foundation to help support community projects that focus on wellness and prevention strategies.

    “The Community Benefit Grants program demonstrates the commitment of Vidant Health and Vidant Beaufort Hospital to improve the health of the community beyond the walls of the hospital,” said president Harvey Case. “And it gives us the opportunity to fund programs that are consistent with our mission of enhancing the quality of life for the people in our community that we touch, serve and support.”

    The main priority for the community benefit grants program is to improve the health and wellness of people in our community. The focus areas for funding are chronic disease prevention and management, access to care, and nutrition and physical activity.

    The following organizations were awarded grants:

   •  Beaufort County Physical and Nutrition Coalition/My Plate Project - $2,625
   •  Beaufort County Schools/Healthy Outcomes for Pregnant and Parenting Students - $42,806
   •  Beaufort-Hyde Partnership for Children/Child Care Health Consultant - $13,100
   •  Boys and Girls Club of Beaufort County/Triple Play, Healthy Habits - $10,000
   •  Food Bank of The Albemarle/Mobile Food Pantry Deployment - $15,000
   •  Metropolitan Community Health Services, Inc. (Agape Clinic)/340 B Pharmacy program - $50,000
