1 Trump Rally Attendee Killed, Shooter ‘Neutralized’ During Assassination Attempt: Secret Service | Eastern North Carolina Now

    At least one person was shot and killed during an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Saturday at a political rally in Pennsylvania in which the suspected gunman was also "neutralized," according to the U.S. Secret Service.

    In a statement, the U.S. Secret Service said that "a suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue."

    "US Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased," the statement said. "US Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and the former president is safe and being evaluated. One spectator was killed, two spectators were critically injured. The incident is currently under investigation and the Secret Service has formally notified the Federal Bureau of investigation."

    A man who attended the rally and identified himself as a doctor told local media: "I heard the shots. I thought it was firecrackers to begin with."

    The doctor said that people were screaming "He's been shot. He's been shot."


    He said that he rushed over to help the person. "I said, I'm an emergency department physician. Let me help you," he said. "The guy had spun around was jammed between the benches. He had a headshot here. There's lots of blood and he had brain matter."

    Another man, who identified him as Joseph and a medical doctor, said that one of the people who was shot at the rally was killed instantly from what he could tell.

    He said that a woman also appeared to be shot in the arm.
