As the first presidential debate between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump nears, the Biden campaign is ratcheting up its attacks on the presumptive Republican nominee's 34 felony convictions.

In a new 30-second ad, Team Biden slams Trump as a "convicted criminal who's only out for himself." After the Manhattan jury handed down its verdict last month, Biden has referred to his opponent as a "convicted felon" while his campaign team has celebrated the verdict. Trump is the first former president in American history to be convicted of a crime.

"In the courtroom, we see Donald Trump for who he is," the Biden campaign ad begins. "He's been convicted of 34 felonies, found liable for sexual assault, and he committed financial fraud. Meanwhile, Joe Biden's been working - lowering health care costs and making big corporations pay their fair share."

"This election is between a convicted criminal who's only out for himself and a president who's fighting for your family," it continues.

The Biden campaign spot is part of a $50 million advertising blitz for June and will run on national cable along with general market television in battleground states ahead of the first debate on June 27, The Hill reported. Biden and Trump's first debate is set to be held in Atlanta and aired on CNN. Jake Tapper and Dana Bash have been tapped as moderators, and it will take place without a live audience per the Biden campaign's request.

Trump, who has vowed to appeal his 34 felony convictions, has blasted his prosecution as politically motivated and influenced by the White House. The Republican candidate's campaign said it raised tens of millions of dollars immediately following Trump's guilty verdict as conservatives - and some independents - were enraged by the hush-money trial's outcome.

Trump's conviction has appeared to have little effect on the polls as the former president continues to lead Biden nationally and in every battleground state, according to the RealClearPolitcs average as of Monday morning. Trump is also facing three other trials, a state trial in Georgia and two federal trials - one in Washington, D.C., and one in Florida - for charges related to his challenging of the 2020 election results and his handling of classified documents after leaving the White House.

Biden and his family have faced their own legal challenges ahead of the 2024 election. In February, special counsel Robert Hur released his final report on the investigation into Biden's handling of classified documents as vice president and recommended no charges. In the report, Hur wrote, "We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

Last week, the president's son, Hunter, was convicted on three felony counts of lying on paperwork for a revolver and owning the firearm while being a drug addict in 2018. Hunter Biden and the president's brother, Jim Biden, have also been the focus of a months-long Republican-led inquiry into the Biden family's foreign business dealings, which GOP leaders allege implicates the president in a pay-for-play scheme carried out by his family while Biden was vice president.

You are probably right, Van Zant. Wikipedia has been denounced by its own co-founder as badly biased to the left. If it were honest, it would change its name to Leftypedia.

JS: He didn't just use SOME dictionary definition; he used a very selective source. I suspect he used Wikipedia rather than an actual dictionary in order to bend it to his spin on things. But you're right, even using his choice of definitions he better describes Biden than Trump.

Instead of a simplistic definition in some dictionary, to understand a political ideology one must look deeper. This definition conveniently leaves out the very certain principle of fascism, the belief in the "corporate state".

But even this simplistic definition fits Biden to a "T". Let's see. "dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy [rule by executive order instead of legislation, rulemaking beyond statutory authority, etc.], militarism [engaging in foreign wars], forcible suppression of opposition [lawfare against President Trump and his allies, attempts to remove him from ballot], belief in a natural social hierarchy [promoting the woke ideology], subordination of individual interests for the perceived ..."

Here is a total injustice. Biden is running millions of dollars in ads blasting Trump over a highly questionable show trial in Manhattan, while the ultra-partisan Democrat judge still has a gag order that stops Trump from responding. How downright un-American and anti-democratic can it get? Is this America or Papa Doc Duvalier's Haiti or Idi Amin's Uganda?

In practicing law, I have rarely seen gag orders in cases. They are extremely rare, but when I have been aware of them, they were applied to both sides evenly. That is not what Juan Merchan did. He gagged Trump but allowed everyone of the prosecution side to have free rein in talking to the media, and the prosecution's star witness ran a podcast and went on what amounted to a media tour with his spiel. This one-sided gag order was not about judical issues. It was all about politics and it stunk to high heaven.

Even worse, the partisan Democrat judges of New York, and that now includes more than just Merchan, have kept this gag order in place AFTER the trial concluded. There is not longer any possible legitimate judicial excuse for that. I have never seen or heard of that being done before. It is all about politics. Trump will go into a debate where if Biden brings up the case, Trump can't respond or he might be jailed for contempt.

New York's tainted and politically corrupt judicial system is no better than North Korea's. I am thankful that Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is going to sue them before the US Supreme Court for their outrageous election interference disguised as a court case. The rule of law no longer exists in New York.

The truth is that other than the hard-core globalist Marxist intelligentsia, most leftists are operating at the level of Bob DiNiro or Bob the internet troll and generally have no idea what they are saying and how foolish they seem to others.

There are a lot of morons who throw around the "fascist" label without knowing anything about what that ideology is about other than it is authoritarian, but there is a lot more to it than that. Fascism is based on the "corporate state" where political power, and authoritarian political power, is shared between fascist politicians and corporations and organizations in league with them. Executive decrees are used more than legislation through elected bodies. If Mussolini showed up today in a time machine, he would find himself much more comfortable in the Biden administration than the Trump administration. The Biden regime is the one that adheres more to classic fascist orthodoxy.

The main difference between communism and fascism is that under communism, the state owns all the property while under fascism private companies and individuals still own the property but government dictates how they can use it. Today's Democrats share an ideological kinship with Mussolini's fascists.

The European farmers call the EU Green Deal "climate communistm" but ideologically what is being pushed by the climate alarmists is much more out of the classic fascist playbook. A term I first heard when I was in college, "eco-fascism" is much more appropriate for the climate alarmism movement of today.

It takes courage to put yourself out there and run for office. Only a coward would argue they cant loose. Never met a fascist who wasn't a coward.

Big Bob: You stated: "We have the election we have."

As a real patriot, I expect better from you Leftists, and the RINOs that are too cowardly to take a stand.

The Soviet Union had the elections it had, too. They weren't fair or open or honest, but they were the elections they had. So did East Germany, and they even had the illusion of opposition parties, which were there but not allowed to win control.

No person who values democracy would stand by and let our elections sink to the level of the Soviet or East German elections. While we are a long way yet from that level, the Democrats are pushing America in that direction. We need to put a stop to it before it is too late.

WOKE sucks, period!
