Washington Utilities Has a Huge Blackout | Eastern NC Now

The City of Washington Utilities has a huge blackout in Mac'swood and east of Washington from Bonner Street to the east. This was realated to me by the officers that run the 911 service.

ENCNow
The blackout began at about 9:50 pm on Sunday night, June 23, 2013.

The City of Washington Utilities has a huge blackout in Mac'swood and east of Washington from Bonner Street to the east. This was related to me by the officers that run Beaufort County's 911 service, which was very kind of them, since there was no message on the City of Washington Utilities web site, and here at 11:23 pm no service personnel from the City of Washington has yet to return my call.

I'll lt you know what I know as soon as I know it.

This just in from reader at 11:26 pm: Power is out in the City of Washington east of Market Street. I will let you know more when I know and providing my hotspot is still up.

John Murphy reported at 11:36 pm: "The outage must be confined to the city. The juice is on out here in Tideland Electric country."

From a reader on West Second Street at 11:45 pm: There is power of West Second Street.

A.J. Greene reported at 11:47 pm: I never lost my power. Out here near the end of river road.

I know where A.J. lives on River Road, and I know that A.J.'s family is a City of Washington Utilities Customer, so this might mean that the problem is endemic to east Washington proper only.

At 12:00 pm, the power came back on. I will follow this up with whomever will talk to me from the City of Washington as soon as I contacted to let you know why this happened with no inclement weather as a culprit.
