Lucretia Roper Burbage was promoted to heaven on April 26, 2024.

Lucretia was born to Edwin and Katie Wilkinson Roper on November 13, 1932. Lucretia is alive to live forever with her Father God and is waiting for her loved ones to join her. She married O. E. Burbage, Jr. on September 9, 1951. O.E. left this world on April 28, 1994. They are now together with Jesus. Lucretia has one son, Gary Burbage and his wife Donna. Lucretia has one daughter, Michelle Ward and her husband Bob. Lucretia has four grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren. Lucretia also had one grandson who preceded her in death, Kyle Burbage. She has one brother, James B. Roper and his wife Fran along with one nephew and one niece.

Lucretia's first love was her Father God, whom she enjoyed serving. Lucretia loved her family and had her grandchildren with her as much as possible. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life. She fished, cooked, played, and took them on trips and to eat out.

Lucretia loved the outdoors and summertime. She was a loving caregiver to others and truly loved and cared for her family.

Lucretia worked with local health, agriculture, and school systems. She loved people and never met a stranger. She volunteered at Belhaven and Northeast Elementary School and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Hyde County Correctional Center. She was a member of the Washington Red Hat Honey's and the Belhaven Red Hat Belles. She was a multiple gold medalist at the Senior Games.

Lucretia was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and later with St. James United Methodist Church. She worked in church as long as her health permitted and taught Sunday School for 45 years and was faithful in visiting the sick.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville, NC who provided Lucretia with a loving family and excellent care. In addition, the family appreciates the care and thoughtfulness expressed by 3HC Home Health Care and Hospice. The family would also like to thank Mike Goodwin for being a good friend and advisor.
