Publisher's note: Recent Republican Candidate for the NC House, District 6 seat, Mattie Lawson, a grassroots advocate for limited government, will not seek the North Carolina GOP Chair to be voted on at the NC GOP Convention.

Recently, we posted an article by our associate, Brant Clifton, regarding Mattie throwing her proverbial hat in the ring.

Today, I asked Mattie about her recent interest in the state Republican party to which she answered: "I was in the race to stimulate grassroots conservatives' interest in participating in the Convention. Some in the TEA Party were concerned lack of interest will negatively affect the election of officers.

Here below is The Ms. Lawson's press release.

News Release:

Mattie Lawson, Kill Devil Hills, NC, resident and Republican candidate for North Carolina House of Representatives for District 6 in 2012, has reconsidered her very recent, very brief foray into state party politics.

Bolstered by her successes in the primary election and the run-off election and a near-miss with the General Election in her first-ever step into a partisan political race - especially considering it was against a seasoned, well-funded opponent endorsed by high ranking members of her own party - she was pursued by fellow grassroots patriots to add to the mix at NC's Republican Party election of officers. However, exploratory feedback uncovered a potential for confusing loyalties among fellow conservative activists that outweighed any hoped-for advantage of multiple candidates bearing similar messages of urgently needed reform within the ranks of the NC Republican Party.

The election of NC GOP officers is scheduled for June 8th 2013 in Charlotte at the NC Republican State Convention. Announced candidates for NC GOP Chair are Claude Pope of Bald Head Island, NC, and Jack Brosch of Mecklenburg, NC.

Mrs. Lawson plans to remain ready to serve when a suitable opportunity presents itself. Meanwhile, she holds a leadership role at the local level as the Vice-Chair of the Dare County GOP, leads the OBX TEA Party and is an active member of Liberty Christian Fellowship Church.
