Now that Kamala Harris has been coronated the Democratic Socialist designee for nomination as their candidate for President of these United States, after that political party's contrived primary process "democratically" elected Joseph R. Biden: What are your feelings about this party's progressive posture within their self-styled exercise of "Saving Democracy for America," and how truly critical the outcome of this presidential election will be?

0% I am ecstatic that this "Democracy's" First partially Black, First partially Indian, First female Co-Parent, and that this nation's primary necessity is to elect our First woman president.

14.29% I really do not care about all these "Firsts." I will continue to pray, and work for this Representative Republic to elect someone competent, and brilliantly patriotic to be our next president.

85.71% I will never vote for any politician that "first" does not have the core values to understand how dire this Constitutional Republic's situation has become.

    Mrs. Gladys Elizabeth "Betty" Cornelius, age 77, a resident of Chocowinity died Monday October 30, 2023, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 12, 2023, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. The service will be officiated by Pastor Dean Fulford.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Betty was born in Randolph County, Alabama, daughter of the late Thomas Fred Barrett and the late Mary Kate Farrer Barrett. She graduated high school in Cedar Key, FL. On February 26, 1966, she married Charles "Billy" Cornelius, Sr. who preceded her in death on May 6, 2021. She served her family as a homemaker, who enjoyed reading, working in the yard and gardening. Mrs. Betty was a member of Wades Point Pentecostal Holiness Church in the Pamlico Beach Community of Belhaven.

    Survivors include her children: Brandon M. Cornelius (Jem) and Marcie C. Pittman all of Washington; a brother: Charlie Hester of Livingston, TX; and grandchildren: Andrew Pittman, Amber Cornelius, Alex Pittman, Ashley Cornelius and Blessie Cornelius. She was preceded in death, along with her parents and husband by a son: Charles "Billy" Cornelius, Jr.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to Relay for Life of Beaufort County, Attn: Memorials, P.O. Box 2708, Washington, NC 27889.
