More than 1,00 Israelis have been killed and more than 2,600 injured after Hamas, a Palestinian Islamic terrorist organization, launched attacks on Israel over the weekend.
At least 14 Americans have been killed and Americans have been confirmed to be among those who were kidnapped and are being held hostage inside Gaza.
Terrorists launched thousands of rockets into Israel early Saturday morning, on the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, sending people throughout the country running for bomb shelters. Israel said in a recent statement that terrorists fired at least 4,500 rockets at the country.
Simultaneously, the terrorists used drones to drop bombs on Israeli defenses on the border, rendering them inoperable as terrorists used explosives and bulldozers to smash through Israel's border wall. More than 1,000 terrorists then flooded into the country on paragliders, boats, motorcycles, trucks, and by foot as they hunted down innocent civilians door to door to slaughter or kidnap them.
Israel has responded with ferocious airstrikes targeting the terrorists responsible for the attacks and by calling up tens of thousands of reservists in preparation for a historic ground offensive in Gaza.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that those who were responsible were going to learn soon their actions were a
"mistake of historic proportions" and that Israel's military response would be remembered for generations.
Top U.S. officials compared the attacks to the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. They noted that after adjusting for differences in population size between the U.S. and Israel, the attacks were comparable to several 9/11s.
A spokesperson for Hamas told the BBC that it received support from Iran and others, although he declined to say who else provided support.
Another Iranian-backed terrorist organization, Lebanon-based Hezbollah, also launched attacks against Israel over the weekend.
In Iran, people flocked to the streets to celebrate the deadly attacks, shooting off fireworks, waving flags, and cheering, according to numerous images posted online.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani said,
"What took place today is in line with the continuation of victories for the anti-Zionist resistance in different fields, including Syria, Lebanon and occupied lands."
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei posted on social media:
"God willing, the cancer of the usurper Zionist regime will be eradicated at the hands of the Palestinian people and the Resistance forces throughout the region."
Iran has given billions of dollars to Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups over the last few decades to support attacks against Israel, providing weapons, funding, and training.
The Biden administration
"has strengthened and emboldened the regime in Iran," said the foreign policy experts at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a nonprofit focusing on national security and foreign policy.
The administration has loosened sanctions on Iran as it seeks a nuclear deal, which it has failed to deliver, and the result has been Iran's ability to sell millions of barrels of oil per day.
Biden greenlit a $10 billion transfer from Iraq to Iran in July, and in August, he approved the unfreezing of $6 billion in Iranian oil revenues.
Defenders of the Biden administration claim that the money did not go to terrorism, but Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said Iran would spend it however it wanted to.
