Actor running independent populist campaign for Mexican president | Eastern North Carolina Now

openly attacking Mexico's political class and elites

ENCNow

Mexican actor  Eduardo Verastigui is running a populist campaign for Mexican president as an independent, drawing heavily from Reagan and Trump.  He recently made an appearance at CPAC Hungary to speak to conservatives in Europe.  Reading his campaign materials, he could almost be using a Make Mexico Great Again slogan.  The election is in 2024.

"The same political class has not only destroyed the economy, the environment, and jobs, but now they want to destroy the institutions of the family, destroy our values,, and pervert your children.", Verastigui declared. "Now they want to destroy our faith, pulling God out of our homes, our schools, and our lives.  They have robbed us of the material wealth of Mexico, and now they want to steal our souls.  We will not allow it.  Lets build the Mexican Dream together."

This guy would be great for both Mexico and America if he gets elected. I hope he has very very good security, however. After the assassination of the conservative who was the frontrunner in Ecuador, the fact that he wants to take down the human smuggling criminal cartels creates some real presonal danger for him. If we had a real president like Trump, he could simply tell the cartels that if they get into any political assassinations, we will start droning their leaders on a wholesale basis. It is not a long drone flight from the western US to Mexico. Hellfire missiles can be a big deterrent.
