Fox GOP debate shows need to reform presidential debates | Eastern North Carolina Now

moderators have way too much power and control

ENCNow

The Fox News Republican Presidential debate once again showed how the format of what are now called "debates" need to be changed back to real debates.  Moderators from big media steer debates to their own agendas rather than the issues important to candidates or voters.  They also spin questions to favor or disfavor specific candidates.  Moderators should only keep order, not inject their own agendas into debates.  Debates should be about the candidates and their issues, not the preening moderators and their egos and agendas.

A glaring example that has received quite a bit of comment was how the Fox moderators downplayed the immigration issue, which is a top issue for GOP voters and candidates.  They harped on January 6 but ignored what the GOP base is concerned with, election integrity..  They tried to push the candidates into the globalist narrative position on climate, which multiple candidates, to their credit pushed back on.

The more liberal networks would be even worse in their spin and skewing.

The best solution is to use the format of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the gold standard of American political debates.  There each candidate composed an equal number of questions to be asked.  The media did not get to inject themselves into policy issues.

The RNC should never have allowed this type of debate, because they should not be setting precedents for what will be allowed in general election debates.  The media-controlled general election presidential "debates" have been controlled by big media moderators hostile to Republicans, and that should never be allowed again.

I cannot remember a presidential general election debate where the GOP nominee was not having to debate the biased liberal moderators as well as the Democrat nominee. I read that the RNC is not going to deal with the badly biased establishemt swamp Presidential Debate Commission any more but instead negotiate directly with the Democrat Party to arrange debates. That is a step forward, but reining in the ezcess control by the moderators needs to be part of the equation. In last night's debate the bias of the moderators showed repeatedly.

Their trying to rope the candidates into agreeing to the globalist climate orthodoxy with a show of hands was repulsive. It was good to see multiple candidates rebuke them in detail on that.
