Four children were found hidden in a home where first responders came across alcohol, drugs, sex toys, and a dead body.

Men dressed as women all denied to first responders that there were children in the home, but four kids were found in a back bedroom, the Boston Herald reported.

A Boston Fire Department crew of first responders was dispatched to an apartment in a public housing complex Saturday morning for a call about a man who had gone into cardiac arrest. An incident report obtained by the Herald showed that the first responders discovered more than a man in a medical crisis.

"The apartment was in extremely unsanitary conditions. Approximately 6 adults, who appeared to be males, were seen in the apartment," first responders wrote in their report, adding that they found "four children in the back bedroom being hidden by an adult male from first responders."

The children found in the home ranged in age from 5 to 10, according to the Herald.

"All of the adult parties were being uncooperative and did not provide helpful information. All adults present denied having children inside the apartment," first responders wrote.

The crew filed a report of children alleged to be suffering from abuse or neglect, the outlet reported.

First responders performed CPR on the man in cardiac arrest but were unsuccessful. The Boston Police Department is investigating the death.

"This is sickening," At-Large City Councilor Michael Flaherty told the Herald. "I was informed by people at the scene that there were drugs, alcohol, sex toys all around the apartment as well as a dead body on the floor."

Flaherty, who serves as Public Safety Chairman on the city council, told the outlet that the man died of "an apparent overdose" and that a "man wearing a wig" claimed to be the father of the children found in the home.

Democratic state Sen. Nick Collins praised the first responders and added, "No child should be exposed to what these children were allegedly exposed to."

Council President Ed Flynn also called for more oversight of public housing.

It is unclear if any adults in the home will be charged with a crime.

The Boston City Council is expected to hold a hearing on what happened in the apartment.
