War on "woke" - France to vote on stopping rewrites of classic books | Eastern North Carolina Now

A bill is pending in the French parliament to end the authority of heirs of authors to do woke re-writes of their books or other artistic works.  Such re-writes are deemed an insult to the original author.

George Orwell warned of these politically motivated book re-writes in his famoous novel "1984". Orwell wrote:  "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered.  That process is continuing day by day and minute by minute.  History has stopped.  Nothing exists except the endless present and the party is always right." Amaxzingly, France seems to be standing up to woke tyranny better than most.  When BLM deamnded removal of statues, President President Macron did a nationwide TV address to declare that no one would be erased from French history and no statues removed.  When BLM attacked a major statue in Paris, the police came out in force and arrested the BLM attackers, who were then prosecuted for serious offenses.  That put a stop to attacks on statues.
