A House Democrat who is the first Chinese American woman elected to Congress reportedly earned a leadership role with a suspected intelligence front for the Chinese Communist Party.

The Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China named Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) "honorary chairwoman" during an August 2019 event in Monterey Park, California, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) investigation published Monday.

The report came out amid rising tensions between the United States and China after a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon flew over the United States last week. The DCNF says it translated multiple Chinese-language sources for the investigation and consulted experts who determined the group is a Chinese intelligence influence operation affiliated with the United Front Work Department (UFWD).

The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, created by Congress in 2000, has identified UFWD as a department under the Chinese Communist Party that "reportedly participates in building foreign intelligence collection networks, particularly in Taiwan." Among its "primary missions" are efforts to "liaison with foreign political parties," "influence operations," and "intelligence collection," according to a 2009 report from the commission.

Taiwan is a self-governed island nation that the Chinese Communist Party has sought to bring under its control. The United States provides defense support to Taiwan, but does not formally recognize it as a country.

At the August 2019 event, Chu said she hoped for China and Taiwan "to become one family," per a DCNF translation. Such a comment would align with the Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China's opposition to Taiwanese independence.

In 2022, when then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) prepared to make a visit to Taiwan in defiance of China, Chu said she "always supported Taiwan," according to CNN. However, when pressed about what she thought about the trip, she demurred. "I leave it up to those who are going to make that decision."

The Daily Wire reached out to Chu's office for comment on the DCNF investigation.

Considering what has happened to our Representative Republic since the corruptive orthodoxy that led to the tolerated abomination - The Russia Hoax - where felonies were perpetrated upon the American People by the creation of the Two Tiered Justice System, in the misnomer of "Social Justice:" Where do you stand on sustaining our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms in a society where injustice is chronically sanctioned by one political orthodoxy?
I believe in a perfected society by employing a higher governmental authority to train the behavior of the public.
The United States Constitution does not allow just a few freedoms, it guarantees ALL freedoms promised to Humankind by God.
