McCarthy concessions on rules empower rank and file GOP members | Eastern North Carolina Now

Many conservatives are not thrilled with Kevin McCarthy as Speaker, but the concessions he made in rules changes to get to that point should open up the workings of Congress by empowering the rank and file members and diminish the powers of the Speaker.  The changes remove the centralization of power under Boehner and Ryan and put power relationahips back to the more open era of Newt Gingrich.  The fight by our 20 heroes seems to have accomplished something after all.

North Carolinians can be proud of the role that our Congressman Dan Bishop played as one of those twenty heroes and one of the key members involved in the negotiations.  We can also be proud of the roles former Congressmen Mark Meadows and Walter Jones played in bringing down power-drunk RINO John Boehner as Speaker some years ago.
