EV's exploding from water damage after Hurricane Ian | Eastern North Carolina Now

Exploding cars

ENCNow

Jimmy Patronis, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer & State Fire Marshal, tweeted Thursday: There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start. That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale.

It’s hard to make out exactly what people are saying in the above video, but the reporter seems to say, “So they’ve already put on 1,500 gallons of water on this and it’s still going.” The firefighter on scene responds, “oh, and this will burn for days.”

I’m sure that’s environmentally friendly.

Electric vehicles make us dependent on China because that is where most of the lithium for the batteries comes from, and 6 of the 10 largest makers of EV batteries are in Red China, and 3 others in South Korea using Chinese lithium.
