Beaufort County Commissioners' Chairmanship | Eastern North Carolina Now

The chairmanship will be selected tonight, and it will set the political tone for this board for some time hence.

ENCNow
The chairmanship will be selected tonight, and it will set the political tone for this Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners for some time hence. It is not my decision for it to be this way; it is just the way it is.

I know this because this chairmanship selection process will be my seventeenth. It is not what I want for the chairmanship process, or the very best candidate will have always been selected. No, the chairmanship is selected by three motivating factors depending where your political principles lie: Democrats always vote for democrats, Republicans only vote for principled Republicans (with one caveat, which will be explained later), and RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) always vote for whomever is advised by their special interest handlers. I only know this because "Republican" Jay McRoy has admitted this to me on one specific occasion early in his rather infamous career.

Jay McRoy's political ally "Republican" Al Klemm has also admitted to me in his formative political career, "Jay has done a lot to get me elected, so I have to follow Jay's advice on major issues, including the chairmanship." While Jay McRoy was defeated at the polls in November, his political ally "Republican" Al Klemm remains on the board, so, in many respects, and until it is proven otherwise, a big piece of Jay McRoy's political philosophy remains on this board of county commissioners.

Newly elected Republican Gary Brinn has made no votes as of yet, so I will disregard his campaign rhetoric of having no credible idea of where he stood on anything, and I will evaluate him ongoing as a county commissioner; understanding that he is new, and therefore, I will be overly generous in my summations. Hey, I remember what it feels like to be new as well as a county commissioner; however, in those early days, I studied early and hard as to how to govern as my Conservative principles dictate, and now, understandably, I very well know what I am doing at all times.

Remarkably, by 1:30 pm today, December 3, 2012, I have heard nothing from the other two "Republicans" on this board of county commissioners, and, accordingly, I do not expect that these aforementioned "two" will do anything other than do what they are told to do by their handlers, or proxy-handlers. Regardless of my protestations, I hope that I am wrong here, and will profusely admit my wrongness, on this well traveled platform, should that be the case. Earlier in the process, overtures were made by County Commissioner Hood Richardson, and to date, they appear to have been rebuffed.

Rebuffed or no, I plan to do as I always do when I vote for chairman: I will vote for the most qualified candidate. If there is no success to elect the most qualified candidate (on our board there are two equally qualified candidates), I may vote for the Democrat, which I have done before, and this is my one aforementioned caveat. I will not vote for an unqualified "Republican" (RINO). This is not what I say I will not do, this is what I have done ... repeatedly. You see, I prefer my Democrats with a D denoting their political affiliation, not an R.

This is the only way that the Republican Party will survive as a viable option to the stupidity of liberal governing. The good, the smart, and the wise Republicans will take care of their own, and we will do it in the full light of day.

Accordingly, this is one of my most ardent Republican principles, and I will act in a manner pursuant to such tonight.

Postscript: Interestly, this post has been duly noted by some influential individuals, and now only one question may well remain: Does "Republican" Al Klemm wish to continue to effectively vote only for Democrats as chairmen of the Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners?

Dateline, 12/4/2012 - 9:40 am: As I promised in the post of 12/3/2012, and due to Beaufort County Commissioner Gary Brinn's first vote as commissioner, it is duly noted that he distinguished himself as a good Republican, while Al Klemm did not.

There is hope that Commissioner Brinn will develop into a trustworthy Conservative, and I will cheer along his progress as is merited.
