Mrs. Betty Jo Ashworth Brazier, age 91, a resident of Williamsburg Road, Washington, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at her home.

    Mrs. Betty Jo Ashworth Brazier, age 91, a resident of Williamsburg Road, Washington, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at her home.

    Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, conducted Dr. Greg Barmer.

    Betty Jo was born in Guilford County on December 5, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Robert Benton Ashworth and Bonnie Louisa Liner Ashworth. Betty Jo was a homemaker. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Betty Jo was a talented artist and writer. She loved to cook and bake. Betty Jo was an animal lover.

    Betty Jo's family is comforted knowing that she is at the feet of Jesus and reunited with so many loved ones. She was always reading her Bible and talking about him. Betty Jo loved everyone she met and was deeply loved by so many.

    Betty Jo was married to Rev. Robert Melvin Southern, who preceded her in death. Later, she married Jack Henry Brazier, who also preceded her in death.

    Betty Jo is survived by a son, Robert Melvin "Robie" Southern, Jr. of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Scarlette Broadway (James), Daniel Tyson (Patsy), Angel Dotson, Michelle Trover (James), Wendy Kilgo, Dylan Southern; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Brazier was preceded in death by two daughters, Shelia Southern, Kim Dotson; brother, Jack Ashworth; sisters, Lillie Stanley, Lois Meyer, Irene Snyder, Peggy Walker; son in laws, James Tyson, Michael Dotson; daughter in law, Maureen Brennan and fur babies, Banjo, Squint, Flash and Little Honey.

    The family would like to thank caregiver Shelia Windley, and Miss Velva and Miss Shelia with Community Home Care and Hospice for their excellent care.

    The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
