As Senator, Biden fillibustered black female judge for 2 years | Eastern North Carolina Now

so did Senator Barrack Obama

ENCNow

Joe Biden wants everyone to stand down and not oppose his SCOTUS nominee because she will be black and female and fills a quota.  Qualifications, or lack of same, and ideology, should be ignored  according to Biden

But that is NOT how Biden responded himself to a black female judicial nominee when he was a US Senator.

When President Bush nominated Justice Janice Rogers Brown, a former state Supreme Court Justice from California and a black woman, to the nations most important Circuit Court of Appeals, the DC Circuit, in 2003, Senator Joe Biden fillibustered against Justice Brown for two years, keeping her off the federal bench until 2005.  Joining Biden in the fillibuster against this well qualified black woman was Senator Barrack Obama of Illinois.  They opposed her due to her conservative views.

Biden and Obama voted against Justice Brown three times until she was finally confirmed in a compromise after two years.  She retired from the DC Circuit in 2017

Meanwhile, a new ABC / IPSOS poll shows that 76% of American likely voters oppose limiting consideration to a black female for this SCOTUS appointment.  Even 54% of Democrats said that Biden should consider every qualified person, not just black females.

If Biden and Obama can oppose a black woman judicial nominee because of her ideological views, so can any Republican currently in the US Senate.
