A veteran's thoughts on Afghanistan | Eastern North Carolina Now

Bless us and save us

ENCNow

This has been a difficult week, as the most evil and hateful scourge of any cult on earth has risen again. Shame on the disgraceful lying American politicians who betrayed the men, women, and children of Afghanistan, ripping from them the shield of hope and promise and leaving them for slaughter. On the eve of the 20th observance of the 9/11 Islamist attack on our nation, an inept American president has re-seeded al-Qaida’s terrorist turf — and let the world’s tyrants know they have nothing to fear from him.

I have talked with many Operation Enduring Freedom veterans this week, but these words from OEF Marine, Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter, rise well above the din. Of his message, Kyle notes: “I feel like I only got a fraction of my thoughts out but this situation and the sadness I feel will take time. If you are struggling, please know, you are not alone. Reach out, we’re all with you. Love & Semper Fidelis to my fellow veterans, service members, and the beautiful people of Afghanistan.”

Thank you Kyle and S/F…

And it only gets worse. Now we have 12 more soldiers sacrificed, this time not for freedom but for an incompetent President. I won't even talk about the "woke" general staff, they are the incompetent losers brought in by Obama. They are more concerned with forcing the woke agenda on all of the military academies. I have to say that for the first time in my life I am ashamed of my President and his military leaders. I will not be surprised when one of those US military aircraft leaving the airport at Kabul is shot down. They know there will be no response from our feckless President.

Last night I got an out of state call from an Army friend I served with 30 plus years ago. We're both shook from the magnitude of the many faceted betrayals and the national disgrace of this catastrophic manner of departing Afghanistan. We talked for a long time.
