Here come the Food Police | Eastern North Carolina Now

More social engineering from Elitists who think they know better than you how to live your life

We tend to think bad or unusual or unbelievable things are happening some place else in the world and we are safe in our private corner. Was all that crazy business about Mayor Bloomberg regulating burgers and soft drinks some reporter trying to make news? The thing with the Food Cop in Hoke County seemed far enough away to be somewhat unbelievable. Not any more. The food police are here in Beaufort County. We invited them.

They came armed with statistics and money. It is the same old game of grants that got us so many other bad laws and regulations. Approval to accept two grants was given to the Beaufort County Health Department at the August 6 meeting of the Beaufort County Commissioners. These grant programs are going to teach our children in the lower grades how to deal with obesity and how to select a balanced meal. The county would receive a total of $11,000. Volunteer organizations will provide the labor.

We have heard about the Food Police and they really do exist. We were presented with a statistical study from no other than something called the "North Carolina Nutrition and Physical Activity Surveillance System" also known as NC-PASS. Wow, it sounds like someone is trying to make a name for themselves. NC-PASS has done a study of all 100 counties and determined the number of underweight, healthy weight, overweight and obese children between the ages of 2 and 4 years there are in each county. In Beaufort County there are 34 underweight, 544 healthy weight, 134 overweight and 143 obese children. In Pamlico County there are no under weight , 19 healthy weight, 10 over weight and 5 obese children. You wonder how they came up with these numbers? So do I.

Children will be taught about a balanced diet of meat, fruits, vegetables and grains. They will learn about beneficial worms, gardening and some will get to plant a herb in a pot to take home. There is nothing new in these teachings. It is the same kind of thing that has always been taught in school. So what is this about?

I believe this is the beginning of a larger program of policing food that will be run thru our school system during the next several years. The food police are beginning in the lower grades and will continue to supplant parents training from the first thru the 12th grade. Parents should look for students to be asked to complete surveys of the family's eating habits. These will be filled out at school and turned in to the Food Police without parents knowledge. Teachers will be required to report suspected bad nutrition. Look to be summoned to school for conferences about changing your eating habits in order to help your child academically. Your children will start asking for certain foods because they are told at school to eat them. Children can be easily programmed in the lower grades. Remember how impressionable you were in your younger years.

I never thought I would write an article that seems to stretch reality as far as this. I, also, never thought I would witness wholesale abortion, the acceptance of gay marriage, the Obama medical plan declared legal by the Supreme Court, the welcoming of illegal immigrants into the United States, teachers required by law to report bruised children to social services, and a national debt in the trillions. When it comes to social engineering, anything is possible.
