In spite of overwhelming public opposition to their action, the school board of Falls Church, Virginia has removed the names of founding fathers Thomas Jefferson and George Mason from schools in the district. The board's chairman called it "a necessary part of our equity work".

In a survey of students, parents, and staff, only 23% supported removing the name of President Thomas Jefferson, while only 26% supported removing the name of the lesser known George Mason. Mason wrote the Virginia Declaration of Rights adopted during the Revolutionary War and as a Virginia delegate to the Constitutional Convention was a major architect of the US Constitution as well.

One can only wonder about the content of their curriculum when they take the names of prominent American patriots off of their schools. Who will replace them? Marx, Lenin, Mao, or Castro? This is disgusting.
