Heavenly Harmony from Rocky Hock

As the cast assembles each day to rehearse I am astounded at the harmony. I keep thinking this is "heaven's harmony" to be sure. Many of you remember Alleluia because it was often performed when first written back in the 70s. Others of you will simply feel like it is your best friend because all the music is so very familiar. The personal touch Gloria Emmerich has given the musical, coupled with the original orchestrations by Ron Huff, make this a musical to remember and a musical NOT to be missed.

The glorious song "The King is Coming" was not part of the original musical but we've added it as our finale. Gloria Emmerich's arrangement in six part harmony is breathtaking. The words to "More Than Wonderful" were penned by the other Gloria (Gloria Gaither), and we've included that song as part of the show as well. Nathan and Mariah (married in May) will give you the performance duet of a lifetime when they sing it for you. There won't be a dry eye in the place and you're likely to come right out of your chair when they get to the final chorus and start hitting "those notes."

From ballad to anthem you'll be blessed - and that's a guarantee. As we practice I just keep thinking to myself, "People are going to walk out of here on air when they leave the Playhouse after being part of the Alleluia experience." It's not us folks...it's the Lord. He's given us music to live by and melodies from heaven to enjoy right here on earth. Thanks for supporting the theatre!! The weather is cooling down and we have a nice rain today to refresh the crops that is so badly needed.

One last thing. . . We've included a Gaither song sing-a-long (with a live onstage band) as well. Guess what song we've included! IT'S BEGINNING TO RAIN! Come, sing along, hum along, or just listen. You're going to love it.

Remember that we have two performances of Alleluia in Rocky Mount as well. They are on Friday, July 20 at 2pm and Sunday, July 22 at 6pm. If you live anywhere near Rocky Mount and you don't have regular church on Sunday night you should consider bringing along a group a friends to the July 22 performance!! Think about it!!! See you soon in Edenton or Rocky Mount.
