On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, Beaufort County's Health Department received notice

- The County Health Department has received notice from the State Lab that two individuals tested by the Department yesterday have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. One is a known contact with a positive individual from another county. The second is still being investigated to determine if it is from a known contact or from community spread. Both individuals are self-isolating at home.
- The Health Department is conducting contact tracing of the positive individuals to notify any close contacts so they can self-monitor for symptoms.
- We have been anticipating this and it is not a cause for panic. Everyone is reminded to continue social distancing and the use of proper hygiene. Also as you may have heard, the Governor stated in a conference call today that he anticipates all 100 counties will have a positive case by the end of the week.
It was only a matter of time before the Coronavirus came knocking on Beaufort County's door. What is important is that Beaufort County's citizens remain calm, understanding that 'this too shall pass'.
