As socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders continues to lead the Democratic presidential field, his extreme positions are continually exposed. This week, he doubled down on his praise for brutal authoritarian Cuban dictator Fidel Castro's "literacy" program, best described as forced indoctrination
in an environment of fear. In a disastrous interview with 60 Minutes, Sanders couldn't even put a price tag on his radical agenda, including his signature Medicare For All, which has been endorsed by the North Carolina Democratic Party.
"While other Democats openly fret about what a socialist at the top of the ticket would mean for down-ballot races, the North Carolina Democratic Party is openly embracing his agenda,"
stated NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley. "Just yesterday, a new study found that the Green New Deal - also endorsed by the North Carolina Democratic Party - would cost the average household in North Carolina more than $75,000 in the first year. Every single Democrat running in North Carolina needs to answer whether they will support the Democratic nominee for President."
U.S. Senate candidate Cal Cunningham committed to voting for the Democratic nominee in November along with State Sen. Erica Smith. Governor Roy Cooper, Attorney General Josh Stein, and N.C. Democratic Party Chair and Insurance Commissioner candidate Wayne Goodwin have remained silent. Recent polls show Sanders in the lead or tied in North Carolina while leading in the overwhelming majority of Super Tuesday states.
