Virginia Passes Bill Giving Electoral Votes to Popular Vote Winner | Eastern North Carolina Now

    The Virginia House of Delegates just passed a bill that aims to give electoral votes to whomever the wins the popular vote.

    The Democratic-majority House was able to pass House Bill 177 by a 51-46 vote, and if it is approved by the senate, it will become part of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

    "Under the compact, Virginia agrees to award its electoral votes to the presidential ticket that receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia," the summary of the bill states, according to Breitbart News. "The compact goes into effect when states cumulatively possessing a majority of the electoral votes have joined the compact. A state may withdraw from the compact; however, a withdrawal occurring within six months of the end of a President's term shall not become effective until a President or Vice President has qualified to serve the next term."

    Liberals have been pushing this compact ever since Donald Trump won the electoral vote over Hillary Clinton, who won the popular vote, in the 2016 election.

    Since then, Democrats have been out to destroy the Electoral College, and this compact is there first step towards making this happen. Fifteen states, including Washington D.C., have joined in the compact so far, and more Democrat-led states are likely to in the future.

    Not all left-wingers are in favor of this effort, however, as Democrat Nevada Governor Steve Solak recently defied his party to veto the legislation in his own state.

    "Once effective, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact could diminish the role of smaller states like Nevada in national electoral contests, and force Nevada's electors to side with whoever wins the nationwide popular vote, rather than the candidate Nevadans choose," he said. "As Nevada's governor, I am obligated to make such decisions according to my own conscience. In cases like this, where Nevada's interests could diverge from the interests of large states, I will always stand up for Nevada."

    Liberals are still so bitter about losing the 2016 election that they now want to disband the entire system that our forefathers put in place to ensure our elections were fair and balanced. If we're not careful, they'll rig the entire system for themselves to win elections for generations to come.
