New Bern Granted Over $1.5 Million in Federal Aid for Damage Caused by Hurricane Florence

    Washington, D.C.     Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that New Bern will receive $1,544,548.46 in federal aid. The funds reimburse New Bern for costs incurred while restoring its power distribution system after Hurricane Florence.

    "Few areas were hit by Hurricane Florence as hard as New Bern. The unprecedented flooding caused tremendous damage, but the resiliency displayed by the people of New Bern has helped them rebuild from this awful natural disaster. I'm pleased this money from FEMA will assist them in their recovery."
