Publisher's note: This train of thought from Commissioner Richardson is continued here.

Jerry Evans, candidate for Senate District 1, second mailer is following the pattern of liberal Democrats who believe the saying that "If you tell someone the same thing enough times, they will start believing it". The it in this case is that he is a conservative Republican. He makes that statement four times on the two sides of the post card. Evans is hand picked by the Republican Machine in Raleigh to punish Bill Cook for his Republican failure to march lock step with the Machine during his term in the House of Representatives, Evans is showing that he has the money to send mailers before the early voting starts. We will know where the money is coming from in about two weeks. Based on the methods used by liberals who buy their elections, we can expect to see as many as four mailers with several news paper ads before May the eighth.

Evans tells us he has great confidence in what to do to fix things and then admits that he has no elected office experience. He does have political experience having been a Democrat a few months ago and ran for Beaufort County Commission with a liberal agenda. He claims he was a Republican before his run for Commissioner. Republicans say they did not see him volunteer or attend Republican events during the time he claims to have been a Republican. What this boils down to is that Evans is a political unknown. He is what some say is the political flavor of the day.

We have a tried and proven Conservative Republican running for the Senate. He is Bill Cook. He has served in the Legislature in Raleigh. Vote for the real thing. The flavor of the day changes every day. So does Jerry Evans.

Arthur Williams is a primary candidate for House District 6. He is another newly born conservative Republican skilled in swapping (trading) votes in Raleigh. Williams was hand picked by the Raleigh Republican machine. He has a proven record of following political orders. Williams conversion to conservative Republican politics came after Marc Basnight failed to anoint him to be his successor to fill the Senate seat he resigned from after he saw he would no longer be the King Pin in Raleigh. Williams got very upset with the Democrat party for not appreciating his political intellect and punished them by becoming a conservative Republican. For all his disgust he still did not have the courage to teach his former friends a lesson and run for the Senate seat he was upset about.

With approximately 35,000 dollars of new money and the money the Democrats gave him for his failed campaign for the House he may have as much as 60,000 dollars for his primary campaign. Democrats, and Independents gave him a lot of the 35,000 dollars. This is another campaign Williams will try to buy. He has done it in the past by raising hundreds of thousands of dollars. Voters need to ask what those who give the big money expect. To whom much is given, much is expected. That is where the vote trading comes in. Williams will only be able to get the moneyed crowd what they want. He will not be able to represent the average person.

The Republican Party has a good candidate to fill this seat. Mattie Lawson is the proven Conservative, a grand mother, a founder of the Outer Banks Tea Party and a 35 year Republican. The liberal Arthur Williams time in the Republican Party is measured in months.
