Pulitzer Prize-winning New Yorker journalist Ronan Farrow, who is also Hollywood royalty as the son of actress Mia Farrow and of writer-director Woody Allen, told the Financial Times
his relationship with Hillary Clinton grew cold when she discovered he was investigating a Hollywood mega-player and major Clinton donor.
That mogul was Harvey Weinstein
Farrow won his Pulitzer in 2018 for his New Yorker story about Weinstein that ignited the #MeToo movement.
He shared that Pulitzer with journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey of The New York Times, who also reported on the evolving #MeToo movement.
Since then, Farrow has produced revealing reports on the corporate culture at major media outlets.
His NBC reports upset corporate leadership there
to the point that an NBC executive called him a "terrorist." NBC is the former employer of disgraced network anchor Matt Lauer; the network dismissed Lauer for various charges of sexual harassment and misconduct.
Farrow documented those charges against NBC and more in his book "Catch and Kill."
Farrow and Clinton worked together starting in 2011 when Farrow was selected as an unpaid "special adviser on global youth issues."
This is a meaningless title given to curry favor with donors, children of donors, supporters, and anyone else of interest to those who award such posts.
But in an interview published this past weekend, Farrow told the Financial Times that when Clinton realized that he - Farrow - was hot on the trail of alleged Weinstein sexual transgressions in 2016, she backed off the relationship.
At the time, Weinstein was one of her most successful fundraisers, pulling tens of millions from his Hollywood contacts.
told the Financial Times, "It's remarkable how quickly even people with a long relationship with you will turn if you threaten the centers of power or sources of funding around them. Ultimately, there are a lot of people out there who operate in that way. They're beholden to powerful interests - you become radioactive very quickly."
After the allegations against Weinstein became public, Hillary Clinton said in a statement five days after the fact that she was "shocked and appalled"
by the charges.
On her recent book tour this year, the 2016 failed presidential nominee remained silent about her relationship with Weinstein.
For his part, Weinstein is still free on $1 million bail and is awaiting trial. He has maintained his innocence
and said any sexual relationships were consensual.
The various connections and bonds between the entertainment industry and Democrats go back quite some time.
Hollywood once was relatively bipartisan. But since the 1970s, it's been overwhelmingly far-Left, and people within the industry have used their pop-culture pulpit to make many films that are essentially leftist propaganda - and also box office flops.
As a parallel, Tinseltown remakes classics with politically correct themes, such as the "Ghostbusters" and recent "Charlie's Angels" remakes - and hopes that audiences will favor the politically correct updates. Generally, they have not.
It's likely Farrow has not experienced the last of the ostracism from Democrat and Hollywood centers of power, regardless of his blue-eyed pedigree.
