Resolution to Permit Concealed Carry in Beaufort County Government Buildings
It is time to roll back the Gun Free Zone designation in Beaufort County. What was a well intentioned experiment for the most noble of causes will not make us any safer, while on county government owned property, here in Beaufort County.
The second best deterrent from mass shootings and the evil behavior of profound psychopaths and sociopaths is the blunt force trauma of self defense by law abiding citizens possessing and carrying firearms. The best deterrent; however, to defend our people against the insanity of evil, is a God fearing society, where it is encouraged to worship, pray and live a good and purposeful life; leading by example, and encouraging others to be better people by paying forward those good and decent intentions.
Since that lofty goal is in no way attainable at this intrepid time in these days of our rudderless, disposed society of far too many Americans, it might be wise to allow those that are capable, lawful and willing to pack heat where ever they abundantly feel comfortable and capable of taking it; of course, with some exceptions.
Here below is the Resolution, written by Beaufort County Commissioner Stan Deatherage to seek the ratification of a majority of Beaufort County Commissioners to change our government's procedure of what level of allowable access permitted to all within Beaufort County's government buildings, excepting the Beaufort County Court House.
Resolution Allowing Concealed Carry in All Beaufort County Buildings Save the Court House
Whereas, the Beaufort County Commissioners support the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, and the right of lawful owners of firearms to lawfully carry in Beaufort County, concealed or otherwise, and;
Whereas, the Second Amendment is sacrosanct as a Constitutional right of all American citizens, who act lawfully in their ownership of firearms, to provide for their protection and the protection others, and;
Whereas, the Second Amendment provides the Constitutional right for all Americans to lawfully defend their person, their families, their property, their communities, and our United States Republic, and;
Whereas, no rational, lawful republic disarms its citizens to appease the political whim of any special interest advocacy, and;
Whereas, through the clear prism of history, the great propensity of mass shootings have occurred in buildings designated as "Gun Free Zones"; effectively transitioning these public spaces into "Free Fire Zones" in the event that those persons consumed by evil intent carry firearms, where those who become victims cannot, therefore;
The Beaufort County Commissioners support and defend the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, and do hereby remove all "Gun Free Zone" designations from all public buildings, save the Beaufort County Court House, and, therefore will allow all lawfully permitted citizens to carry firearms on Beaufort County owned public property.
