Municipal elections are next. The general election date is November 5.

News Release:

Municipal elections include the City of Washington, the Towns of Belhaven, Pantego, Bath, Chocowinity and Aurora.

Municipal elections are important because Council members set tax rates inside these town. We need conservatives even though these are non partisan elections. Voting for people who have the personal strength to do the right thing and hold spending down is important.

The big deal is the 2020 elections. Candidates register to run between December 2 and December 20. That is about two months away. Four county commissioner seats are open. The sitting commissioner seats that will be open are: Jerry Langley, Gary Brinn, Jerry Evans and Hood Richardson. In order to be sure we have a chance of electing conservatives, we need a minimum of six Republicans running. More would be even better, but six is the minimum. Then we stand a chance of electing four conservatives.

With the sign up date only a little more than two months away, those who think they may want to run should have already decided to run. With Trump, the federal senator race, and all the state offices running there will have a huge voter turnout. If you are thinking about running, start talking to your friends about supporting you. The liberals and progressive Republicans are not going to help you. Be careful who you confide in; there are snakes in the rafters. A lot of game playing went on during the past two elections. Several candidates suppressed their activities, and lost elections when they could have won. I will be glad to tell you what I know after you register to run.
