    Publisher's note: We will provide all Hurricane Dorian reports and press releases as long as Beaufort County and eastern North Carolina is in danger, and while there is the immediate and essential cleanup.     Individuals who need trees or debris removed, tarps and/or mucking and cleaning of homes should FIRST take pictures of what they need and then call the toll free number for FREE assistance. Volunteer organizations are standing by to provide cleanup assistance.

    If there are churches, community groups or others who wish to volunteer, or donate items, they should go to https://www.nc.gov/agencies/volunteer/disaster-assistance to sign up or they can email volunteernc@nc.gov. We strongly encourage folks to use this so efforts are coordinated and the items most needed get to those who need it most. (If they want to ensure items go to people on Ocracoke, put that in "Additional Details" and it will be tagged.)
