    GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Pirates will begin their 2019 home schedule when they welcome Gardner-Webb to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium Saturday for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference contest. East Carolina will try to even its record at 1-1 after suffering a disappointing 34-6 season-opening setback at NC State in Raleigh last week. The battle against the Runnin' Bulldogs also represents the first of two matchups against Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) members in '19 for ECU, which will host William & Mary Sept. 21 after beginning American Athletic Conference action at Navy next week.
