Cooper Office Statement on Disaster Recovery Press Conference

Press Release:

RALEIGH: Sadie Weiner, Communications Director for Governor Roy Cooper, shared the following statement after Senator Thom Tillis and Republican legislative leaders' disaster recovery press conference today:

"North Carolina has gotten $2.8 billion on the ground in state and federal money to recover from Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. The CDBG-DR funds allocated after Hurricane Matthew now stands at $93 million either spent or committed. Unfortunately, because Senator Tillis either doesn't have much sway in Washington or because he cares more about his re-election campaign than doing his job, North Carolina doesn't yet have one single penny of CDBG-DR federal housing money that's specifically for Hurricane Florence survivors.

"Governor Cooper has and will continue to set politics aside to do what's right by storm survivors and it's shameful that Senator Tillis and Republican leaders in Raleigh can't do the same."
