Randy Ramsey's Dismal Voting Record as a Citizen Voter | Eastern North Carolina Now

Randy Ramsey's voting record shows he has never voted in a Republican Primary. Some would say this shows he has no interest in Republican politics, probably because his record of contributions show he supported Democrats who weren't on those primary ballots.

Publisher's note: We are receiving a good many short missives suggesting that Randy Ramsey is a RINO, and that he does not take his electorate responsibility seriously. We make no assertion to the veracity of this information; however, many others, from Mr. Ramsey's home region, have made these claim, and that is most troubling.

To counter these profound and rather robustly offered assertions, we, at BCN, offer whatever space that Candidate Ramsey and his supporters needs to adequately refute these damning claims of Mr. Ramsey's disloyalty to the Conservative principles that guide real Republicans, or this last missive that suggests that Candidate Ramsey does not take his position in this citizen electorate. We, at BCN, are here to help all who wish to express all polite and representative expression of the intrinsic principals that make us who we really are.

Randy Ramsey's voting record shows he has never voted in a Republican Primary. Some would say this shows he has no interest in Republican politics, probably because his record of contributions show he supported Democrats who weren't on those primary ballots. But another perspective would be his lack of interest in our local community and his failure to exercise his civic duty to cast a ballot. When asked about his voting record recently at a Republican meeting, Ramsey said he "could not remember, but he thought he must have voted in a primary. I'll have to check into that."

    Many voters would
Randy Ramsey
list education as one of their top priorities; education represents about 40% of your Carteret County tax burden. But what priority did Randy Ramsey put on education in Carteret County?

In 2005, voters headed to the polls to vote on $50 million in capital construction bonds for public schools, including $4.2 million designated specifically for East Carteret High School. Randy Ramsey didn't take the time to vote on this important issue.

In fact, Ramsey has missed the opportunity to vote in a minimum of 29 Board of Education races. Think about that. The man who wants to represent you in the State Senate has never cast a vote in a Carteret County Board of Education election. How much concern does this show about education?

In March of 2000, voters went to the polls to vote in one of the most controversial issues in recent memory. That ballot included a referendum question for $30 million in taxpayer dollars to support a beach nourishment program. It seems everybody had an opinion on the so-called "Sand Tax", but Randy Ramsey didn't take the time to vote on this important community decision.

As voters headed to the polls in May of 2006, they knew that for the first time in 50 years there wouldn't be a candidate for Sheriff with the last name of Thomas. That was the county's first introduction to Asa Buck and it is hard to imagine a more talked about political race than the run for Sheriff that year. Randy Ramsey didn't think it was important enough to take the time to cast a vote.

The list below shows a conservative (pardon the pun) estimate of votes missed by Ramsey would be well over 80. Randy Ramsey has not taken his voting privilege seriously, which makes it difficult to take his candidacy for state senate seriously. So when Randy Ramsey asks for your vote, ask him "why should I vote for you if you don't take the time to vote?"

Here is a list of just a few of Randy Ramsey's Missed Voting Opportunities Since 1992 (as far as records go back):

    3 Presidential Primaries
    4 Governor Primaries
    4 Lt. Governor Primaries
    6 U.S. Senate
    2 U.S. House
    3 N.C. Senate
    3 N.C. House
    29 Board of Education
    13 Court of Appeals
    4 State Supreme Court
    3 Superintendent of Public Instruction
    2 Sheriff Primaries
    2 Commissioner of Labor
