Donald Hord, 78, formerly of Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in Washington, NC.
He was born in Jefferson Co., IN to the late Marshall K. and Anna Mae Burke Hord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Betty Hord and granddaughter, Nicole Ellenburg.
Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon Hord, of Washington, NC; three children, Marianne Hogan and husband John, of Madison, Marc Hord, also of Madison and Melinda Cordon and husband James of Belhaven, NC; seven grandchildren, April Ellenburg, Amber Hord, Anna Hord, Tiffany Alvarez, Shelly Hord, Ethan Cordon and Callie Davis; and six great grandchildren.
He worked primarily as a farmer and sawmill operator but loved his hobby of woodworking. He was a go getter, never afraid to step up to the plate, and was very active in community organizations. After retirement, he and his wife relocated to Myrtle Beach SC, where they could pursue relaxation and their love of golf. He had a fierce dedication for family caring for his wife, children and grandchildren all his life.
