- North Carolina Representative Keith Kidwell (District 79 - Beaufort, Craven) announced today that he has successfully secured several key investments and grants in the state budget compromise for the citizens of District 79 in Eastern North Carolina.
The $24 billion budget compromise, which was released yesterday, is expected to be approved and sent to the Governor by the end of the week.
"I am proud to announce several key provisions in the budget for our region, particularly the millions of dollars to support school construction" said Rep. Keith Kidwell
. "I fought hard for these local investments and favored this fiscally responsible path to pay for school construction as we go - rather than another bond.
"Investments like these will go a long way in supporting our local towns, schools, law enforcement and citizens. Overall, this is a great budget for our entire state. It reduces taxes while investing more in education, school construction and disaster relief. I call on the Governor to put politics aside and support this budget for the citizens he was elected to serve."
Key provisions for District 79 include:
$14,384,993 for school construction in Craven County
$50,000 park grant for City of Vanceboro
$50,000 park grant for Cove City
$135,000 Community Center upgrades
Craven County District Attorney Investigator
$250,000 for Craven County Sheriff's Office to purchase VIPER radios.
$75,000 grant for Craven County Sheriff's Office
$12,165,414 for school construction in Beaufort County
$65,000 park grant for City of Washington
