North Carolina Democrats Are Taking the Lead From 2020 Presidential Candidates

Press Release:

Tonight and tomorrow will be the first time 2020 presidential Democrats debate the extreme positions they've been touting on the campaign trail ― from eliminating private insurance to repealing middle-class tax cuts to granting terrorists and other incarcerated criminals the right to vote. Back in North Carolina, candidates in the Democratic Senate primary aren't far behind.

DSCC-darling Cal Cunningham quickly announced his support for impeachment, despite admitting that it doesn't matter to voters. Former state senator Eric Mansfield declared his support for "an evolution to Medicare for All," which would eliminate private insurance for over 5.3 million North Carolinians. And just like in previous presidential races, national Democrats are being accused of interfering in the primary as Erica Smith calls them out for not providing her support.

"If last week was any indication, these North Carolina Democrats are quickly going to make their Senate campaigns a race to the left as they go along with some of the most radical voices vying to lead their Party," said NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. "Voters deserve to know where Democratic Senate candidates stand on each of the extreme policies that will make up their Party's platform and be debated on the stage tonight."
