"We must make sure the next Congressman from North Carolina is a strong supporter of President Trump and his agenda. Greg Murphy will be a staunch ally for the President and Women for Trump give him our full support."    --Amy Kremer, Women for Trump

Greenville - A national grassroots organization who are among President Donal Trump's most active and vocal supporters have endorsed Dr. Greg Murphy for Congress in North Carolina's Third Congressional district race.

The group's co-founder and co-chair, Amy Kremer was in Greenville Wednesday morning to announce the endorsement and tell why the group believes this race is so important. "We must make sure the next Congressman from North Carolina is a strong supporter of President Trump and his agenda. Greg Murphy will be a staunch ally for the President and Women for Trump give him our full support."

Last week, Murphy sent a strong message that he is the frontrunner when he dominated a 17 candidate field and garnered an impressive 23% of the Republican ballots cast, besting his next closest challenger in the crowded field by 7 points. With no candidate reaching the state mandated 30% threshold to avoid a July Primary run-off, Murphy will be on the ballot with second place finisher Joan Perry. When asked about the fact that Women for Trump is endorsing Murphy against a female opponent, Kremer responded by saying "Those that think I would make an important decision like this based on someone's gender are insulting mine and other like minded women's intelligence. I have the ability to think on my own and after doing the research, Greg Murphy is the clear choice for those who want a Congressman who will be a strong supporter of President Trump."

Kremer has a long political history of grassroots activism, including being one of the original founders of the Tea Party movement. Those conservative values also factored into the decision.

"I've been impressed with Dr. Murphy's 'We the People' platform, which moves power away from the Washington Swamp and back into the hands of the people. His strong emphasis on the Constitution and empowering the American people is just another reason why he is the clear conservative choice in this race."

Murphy welcomed the endorsement and noted it was just another example of how his values match up with those of the Third Congressional District. "I'm humbled by the support of Women for Trump and for Amy's commitment to travel with us through Eastern North Carolina spreading the message that President Trump needs help in Congress in order to 'Make America Great Again'."

Today's endorsement comes on the heels of last week's endorsement by North Carolina Congressman and House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows. Murphy noted these endorsements should not be the sole factor in voting for their next Representative, but they do give voters some guidance as to where a candidate might stand on the issues. "Candidates can say anything when they are out their campaigning. Groups like the Freedom Caucus and Women for Trump don't make endorsements based on TV ads or stump speeches. They do their research and they hold candidates accountable once elected. I'm proud to have their support."

The Republican Primary Run-off will be on on July 9 with the winner advancing to the specially called General Election in September.
