The Election for Beaufort County Commissioner: Stan's First Campaign Video | Eastern North Carolina Now

This video is of a growing list of expressive political /governing communications - including other videos - to let others know where I, Stan Deatherage, stand on the issues; they can be found here.

Below is my first political video to express and explain to my constituents and the Beaufort County public at large why they should elect me as their Conservative county commissioner. It is my first video, and while I endeavor to improve my "stage presence", I am well satisfied with the video's production value, and I firmly stand by what I passionately advocate, what I know to be true.

I implore all that see this video to understand and know that I believe in what I am doing, what I intend to do, and that my will to follow through on this endeavor will be relentless.

Good afternoon, I am Stan Deatherage, your one proven Conservative in this election for Beaufort County Commissioner.

I stress PROVEN CONSERVATIVE; because, at this point in time, Beaufort County's government is a fiscal "train wreck". still in motion, and down an uncertain track. Going forward, we need proven leaders to save us from this self-destruction by bad governing.

Undeterred, Beaufort County's poor governance and it's probable failure will be our fiscal problem to correct, OR, our legacy of broken promise to leave our children; our future Beaufort County citizens.  They deserve a sound Beaufort County government to inherit, so do you ... and you deserve it  NOW.

In the last 2 fiscal years, Beaufort County's commissioners have raised your property taxes 16%.

Additionally, millions of dollars have been borrowed or misspent to sustain a BURGEONING BUREAUCRACY that Beaufort County can not afford; not without continuing to raise your property taxes.

For 18 years (5 terms), I have served Beaufort County's taxpayers by providing zero based budgeting, prudent policy and vigilant oversight of all government services.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, I have never voted for a tax increase, and have worked diligently to cut wasteful spending, thereby, endeavoring to lower the tax rate for Beaufort County's hard working tax payers.

In 2014, I ceased serving as your Conservative Beaufort County Commissioner, but, I now have a calling to help Beaufort County save its government from its shameful self-destruction.

By electing me, together, we will win back Beaufort County, saving it from losing track of what is most important - our fiscal survival ... without destroying the financial well being of each of us.

I thank-you for your support and your vote.

I had to wear the glasses to read the simulated teleprompter / cast upon the my office TV. The words above are true and they were meant to be spoken as written.

I normally do wear glasses since they no longer help me see up close after the one eye corrected for my long vision after cataract surgery last winter, where I use one unaided eye to see up close and another eye with a long vision lens in it to see far away.

I now wear nonprescription sunglasses often outside to focus both eyes into a well working pattern. I'll get the last eye fixed when it needs cataract surgery, and then I can well reading glasses when needed. The glasses I wore have one lens that is clear for the fixed eye's long vision (20/20), and one prescription lens for the unfixed eye. They (glasses) are exclusively used for watching TV from a distance (I usually don't use them still), and for nighttime driving if I do a lot of it on an extended trip.

The video's audio is good, though I had the beginnings of a cold, which I am suffering from right now.

The next videos will probably be done with me just talking about what I know to be true without the reading.
