A funny thing happened on the way to register for the NC House, District 6, for Realtor Jerry Evans.

A funny thing happened on the way to register for the NC House, District 6, for Realtor Jerry Evans, formerly a Democrat politician, now currently registered as a Republican. Instead of filing for the NC House, District 6 seat, as promised to, and reported in, the Washington Daily News on January 13, 2012, he has instead filed to run for the NC Senate, District 6 seat, currently occupied by Dare County's Stan White, Democrat.

Beaufort County Board of Elections Executive Director Kellie Hopkins, when queried at her residence, by BCN, the question (Did Jerry Evans file for NC Senate instead of NC House?), simply answered, "Yes he did."

As a confirmed candidate for this District 1 NC Senate seat, recent Republican Jerry Evans will have a promised primary against current Republican NC House Representative Bill Cook, who has annouced that he intends to seek that same Senate seat some months before Realtor Evans made his momentous switch here today on the first day of filing.

On January 13th, when Evans announced in the Washington Daily News his intentions to seek the NC House, District 6 seat, he stated, "I’m running to be a part of the new Republican majority in the House of Representatives. I know those guys have done a good job. I’ve kind of been watching."

Realtor Evans is not new to politics, having run for the Beaufort County Commission in 2010 as a Democrat. In his campaign, well funded by a myriad of special interest groups, Evans eventually based his candidacy on the one theme that the sitting county commissioners should take the University Health Systems bid for Beaufort County's hospital, irrespective of all other bids, even though two of the competing bids were exceedingly more advantages to the community and the taxpayers. He was so resolute in that conviction, he prompted BCN reporter Brandia Deatherage to label the Democrat candidate as the UHS-candidate.

In that race for the county commission, Democrat Jerry Evans received 1,877 votes in this "Limited Voting" race. The winner at the top of the ballot, a Republican incumbent, received 3,921 votes.

Possibly, Candidate Evans believes he will fair better as a Republican in this upcoming election.

This is eerily representative of the Zeno Edwards, Jr. debacle, some decades hence.

That was truly a veritable abomination. I am not much tolerant of lies, and liars, and those who pose for one purpose or another.

I grow older, and about all I will tolerate is the truth where I can find it.

I'll be nice, but these folks that switch with the wind for their opportunistic political selfishness should be called to task. How can anyone that has stood with a party that has very clear, definable, differences from conservative republicans, change their affiliation and expect open arms? You just can't genuinely stand on a platform that supports abortion, gun control, redistribution of wealth, bloated federal government, etc....and just "change". I feel like he's another rino trying to mix with the herd and breed. If he didn't wholeheartedly believe on what he stood with in the past, then what are we to believe when he startes promising all the good conservative things he's going to do. And trust me, this isn't a republican wave he wants to ride next year, it's a conservative wave. He hasn't playe here before and I'd rather he had taken his board and surfed somewhere else.
