Gov. Cooper Names New Appointees for State Boards and Commissions | Eastern North Carolina Now

    RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced 31 new appointees to various state boards and commissions for North Carolina, including the State Health Coordinating Council, the Minority Health Advisory Council, and the Domestic Violence Commission.

    "I'm grateful that these North Carolinians have agreed to serve in these important roles and share their talent to benefit our state," Gov. Cooper said.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the State Health Coordinating Council:

• Brian Floyd of Greenville as a Hospital Representative. Floyd is the President of Vidant Medical Center where he oversees 6,800 employees and 1,100 physicians. He also serves on the Pitt Community College Board of Trustees.
• Dr. Sandra Greene of Chapel Hill as an Academic Medical Center Representative. Greene is a Professor at the UNC-Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health where she co-directs the Program on Health Care Economics and Finance.
• Tim Rogers of Raleigh as a Home Care Facilities Representative. Rogers is President and CEO of the Association for Home and Hospice Care of North Carolina and the South Carolina Home Care and Hospice Association.
• Glendora Brothers of Elizabeth City as a Hospice Representative. Brothers currently serves as a Transition Care Coordinator at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. She is a registered nurse who brings 25 years of experience to her appointment.
• Kelli Collins of Summerfield as Large Business Representative. Collins currently serves as Vice President of Operations for Surgical Care Affiliates. She is also a registered nurse with more than 12 years of experience.
• Vince Morgus of Cary as a Small Business Representative. Morgus serves as Chief Operating Officer of Carolina Complete Health Network. He previously worked at Quintiles as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development.
• Hew Fulton of Laurinburg as an At-Large member. Fulton is the President & CEO at Z V Pate, Inc. He currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of FirstHealth of the Carolinas. Fulton was the recipient of the 2017 North Carolina Hospital Association Trustee Service Award.
• Dr. Charul Haugan of Raleigh as an At-Large Member. Haugan is currently an Emergency Physician and the Medical Director of Quality and Performance Improvement at UNC REX Healthcare. Haugan is a Fellow at the American College of Emergency Physicians.
• Dr. Lyndon Jordan of Raleigh as an At-Large Member. Jordan is President and Managing Partner at Wake Radiology Consultants. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the SHCC Technology and Equipment Committee.
• Allen Feezor of Bolivia as an At-Large Member. Feezor has served as Senior Institute Fellow at the Institute for Health Policy Solutions and Senior Policy Advisor and Deputy Secretary for Health at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
• Quintana Stewart of Greensboro as a Local Health Director. Stewart currently serves as the Health Director for the Orange County Health Department. Stewart previously served in various roles at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health.
• Commissioner Barbara McKoy of Lillington as a Rural County Government Representative. McKoy is a Harnett County Commissioner who has served on the NC Council for Women and the Harnett County Health Department Board of Trustees.
• Senator Gladys Robinson of Greensboro as an NC Senate Member. Robinson was first elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2010 and serves as a Deputy Minority Leader. She recently retired as the Executive Director for Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency.
• Representative Gale Adcock of Cary as an NC House Member. Adcock was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2014. She has been a nurse practitioner for more than 25 years and is the Chief Health Officer at SAS Institute.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the Advanced Energy Corporation Board of Directors:

• Robert Powell of Greensboro as an At-Large Member. Powell is an Associate Professor of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at NC A&T State University. He is a published researcher in sustainable development and renewable energy in housing.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the Minority Health Advisory Council:

• La'Tanta McCrimmon of Raleigh as a Human Services Agency Representative. McCrimmon is currently the Deputy Director of Government Affairs at the NC Department Health & Human Services. She previously served as the Federal Liaison for the NC Department Health & Human Services and a Health Care Legislative Assistant in Congress.
• Rueben C. Blackwell IV of Rocky Mount as a Community-Based Organization Representative. Blackwell is the President and CEO of Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. Blackwell serves on the Executive Committees of the Rocky Mount Branch and the NC State Conference of Branch of the NAACP.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the Education and Workforce Innovative Council:

• Marshall Cherry of Winterville as an At-Large Member. Cherry is Chief Operating Officer of the Roanoke Electric Cooperative, which serves a broad range of community relations and marketing efforts such as grants and youth programs.
• Rachel Hunt of Charlotte as an At-Large member. Hunt is an attorney, owner of Hunt for College, LLC and founding partner of Charlotte School Search, LLC. She is now the chair of Generation Nation and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Youth Lead and Youth Councils.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the Domestic Violence Commission:

• Nathaniel C. Parker of Wake Forest as Chair. Parker is an attorney at Ellis & Parker who focuses primarily on real estate litigation, land use, zoning and municipal law. He also works with survivors of human trafficking in North Carolina through JusticeMatters.
• April Burgess-Johnson of Asheville as an At-Large Member. Burgess-Johnson is the Executive Director of Helpmate and previously worked as the Coordinated Community Response Specialist for the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
• Dana Mangum of Durham as the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence Representative. Mangum is the Executive Director of the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She previously served in executive roles at GlaxoSmithKline, the North Carolina Community AIDS Fund, and Inequities Research.
• Dr. Jacqueline A. Dienemann of Davidson as a member of the medical community. Dienemann is a nursing research and evidence-based practice consultant at Carolinas HealthCare System University. She is also a Professor Emeritus at UNC Charlotte School of Nursing.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service:

• Pastor Calvin O. Foster, Jr. of High Point as a Representative of the faith community. Foster is the Youth Pastor at Genesis Baptist Church. He previously worked as a Leadership Giving Specialist for the United Way of Greater Greensboro.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the Board of Physical Therapy Examiners:

• Dr. David Edwards of Greenville as a Physical Therapist. Edwards is President at Kinetic Physical Therapy and Wellness, Inc. He previously served as Adjunct Faculty at East Carolina University, teaching doctoral level Geriatric Physical Therapy.
• Teresa Hale of Wake Forest as a Physical Therapist. Hale is the Founder of Allied Rehab. She was awarded with the 2015 Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce Woman-Owned Business of the Year Award.
• Pearl Rhone of Fayetteville as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Rhone is a Senior Physical Therapy Assistant at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. She is a certified Clinical Instructor and has been honored as an outstanding clinical instructor.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individual to the North Carolina Museum of Art Board of Trustees:

• Joyce Fitzpatrick of Raleigh as Chair. Fitzpatrick is the President and Founder of Fitzpatrick Communications, Inc. She serves on the Board of Advisors for the Lucy Daniels Foundation and on the Board of Directors for the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at UNC Chapel Hill.

    Gov. Cooper appointed the following individual to the Equal Access to Justice Commission:

• Justin A. Clayton of Raleigh as the Governor's Designee. Clayton is the Deputy Legislative Director in Gov. Cooper's office. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Policy from UNC Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law.

    Gov. Cooper appointed the following individual to the General Contractors State Licensing Board:

• Henry Arthur Lanier of Snow Hill to the Highway Construction Seat. Lanier is a founding partner and President of Lanier Construction Company. He is active in his community and currently serves on the Greene County Planning and Advisory Board.

    Gov. Cooper appointed the following individual to the License to Give Trust Fund:

• Cynthia L. Squires of Raleigh as the Representative of the NC Department of Transportation. Squires has worked as a management engineer with the NC Department of Transportation for 14 years. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from N.C. State University.
