State Senate leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, was named to the 2017 Executive Committee of the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee, a Thursday press release said.

Berger is one of 21 members named at the group's recent annual convention in Atlanta. The RLCC is the nation's main fundraising and campaign organization for GOP state legislators.

In a statement, the group's chairman, Pennsylvania House Speaker Mike Turzai said:

The RLCC's organization allowed state Republicans to maintain their all-time legislative highs including in my own state of Pennsylvania. With 69 of 99 legislative chambers controlled by Republicans, there has never been a better time to be a Republican legislative leader. Following our productive meeting in Atlanta, these Executive Committee members are prepared and ready to help spread the success stories of Republican leadership to voters ahead of the 2018 midterms.
