    Documentary - State of Mine: The Jim Hunt Story

    Jim Hunt was one of the most popular and influential politicians in North Carolina history. He served as lieutenant governor and an unprecedented four terms as governor. "State of Mine: The Jim Hunt Story" is a one-hour documentary examining Hunt's life and legacy. The story is told through interviews conducted just after Hunt left office in 2001. The interviews include Hunt and his wife Carolyn, their children, former Hunt staff and cabinet members and many of Hunt's political opponents. The documentary also includes behind-the-scenes footage of Hunt during his last days in office, exclusive footage of Hunt on his farm in Rock Ridge and personal family photos. Narrated by WRAL News anchor David Crabtree, "State of Mine:The Jim Hunt Story" at 4 PM and 7:30 PM.

    $5 Ticket. Popcorn, cold drinks, beer and wine sold prior and during the event.

    Play Writing for Youth - A celebration of the creative works of children and youth. Fee is $10. Some scholarships available.

    Don't miss it - January 28 at 7:30 PM -- AOP Fundraiser with a disco theme, a new dance floor, great food, glass of wine and dancing come with the ticket.

    Disco dance lessons are free for ticket holders in the theatre on 1/23/17 and 1/25/17 from 5:30 - 6:30pm.

    Hustle lessons follow with a charge of $10/couple.

    Mixed Media Art

    The Arts of the Pamlico will hold its first juried mixed media exhibit in the Turnage Gallery in February 2017. Juror, Jake Van Wyk. $100 first prize, 2nd prize - Community Theatre season tickets for 2 ($60 value) and 3rd prize - AOP movie tickets for 2 shows for 2 with snacks ($30 value). Three-dimensional freestanding sculpture, wall-hung and ceiling-hung sculpture, and installations, as well as "New Media" works are welcome. Submissions will be accepted at Arts of the Pamlico from January 27, 28, 29 and 31st at the Historic Turnage Theatre at 150 W. Main Street in Washington, NC 27889. Opening reception February 2, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM.

    Valentines from Kids

    Valentine cards in all shaped and sizes welcome from Beaufort County children and youth (no age limit) to display throughout the Turnage Theatre during the month of February. No fees. Submissions with school name and child's first name and age accepted at the Turnage Theatre or by mail starting January 25 - 31, 2017.

    Students of the Pamlico Art Exhibit

    Annual art exhibit for art provided by children living in or going to school in Beaufort, Hyde and Washington counties. Art accepted from February 23 - February 28, 2017 at the Turnage Theatre No fees. Opening reception on March 2 from 5:30 - 7 pm for the show that will be on display from March 3 - 28, 2017.
