The race for the top four spots on the Beaufort County Commission has been decided; however, the fourth spot may not be fully decided until after the possibility of a recount, with the fourth place finisher Republican Derik Davis winning 3,091 votes and the current 5th place finisher, Incumbent Republican Gary Brinn getting 3.082 votes, which is easily withing the 1% threshold where the loser may request a recount.

What is interesting here is that Commissioner Brinn released a series of press releases challenging the suitability of Challenger Davis to hold office.

The other three county commissioner candidates, who will be taking office, will be: Conservative Incumbent Hood Richardson with 4,370 votes, Liberal Incumbent Jerry Langley, with 4,343 votes, while Republican Jerry Evans, a non Incumbent, but no newcomer to seeking political office, is solidly in third place, with 3,190 votes.

    More on this race later.

As of this 10:30 pm mark, Conservative Incumbent Hood Richardson holds a slim lead over Liberal Incumbent Jerry Langley, while Republican Jerry Evans, a non Incumbent, but no newcomer to seeking political office, is solidly in third place, with the 4th and final slot a toss-up between Incumbent Republican Gary Brinn and first time candidate Derek Davis. In Beaufort County's election of its commissioners by the process of Limited Voting, elect these leaders by staggered terms, where the top 4 vote candidates win a seat at the dais.

Remarkably, Losing tonight was Liberal Incumbent Robert Belcher, who, at this 10:30 pm point, has no possible path to victory.
